You can add as many periods into your base email as you

You can also add words to your base email address using +

username+spam@gmail.com

username+newsletter@gmail.com username+important@gmail.com

Combining this with the filters, labels, and folders* features can provide you with powerful organisational tools.

Pro Tip: Sign up to a website such as facebook with username+facebook@gmail.com and if you get spam in the future with that specific email address, you know exactly who gave away your email address without your permission.
